There’s something different about Thanksgiving around here.
The leaves have changed. The mornings are cooler. Families come up for the long weekend. Kitchens get busy and houses that might normally have two people around the breakfast table suddenly have six, eight or ten.
We like that.
Rise & Bagel started here, and our bagels are still made here — overnight in our bakery in Clearview before heading out for early morning doorstep deliveries around the community.
Thanksgiving morning is exactly the kind of morning we had in mind.
You don’t need to make breakfast complicated.
Slice some bagels. Put out cream cheese, butter and jam. Make a pot of coffee. Pour some orange juice. Add eggs or bacon if you feel ambitious.
Then sit down.
Because before the turkey, before the dishes and before everyone starts wondering whether they possibly have room for dessert, there’s a quieter part of Thanksgiving.
Breakfast.
And sometimes that’s when you actually get a chance to talk.
